Here is our Sunday morning schedule:
Bible study: 9:15 - 10:15 am
Worship service: 10:30 am (typically lasts 75 minutes)
"What should I expect at a typical worship service?"
The order of our worship service may change from week to week, but it always includes certain elements. These elements, and a brief explanation of each, follow:
Prayer—We talk to God throughout the service, especially at the beginning and the end. “Pray continually” (1 Thess 5:17).
Music—We sing to God because of how great He is, and are also encouraged by the words. “Sing and make music to the Lord in your heart” (Eph 5:19).
Communion—We remember how Jesus died on a cross for our sins so we can go to heaven. The bread reminds us of His body that was broken and the grape juice of His blood that was spilled. All Christians are invited to participate after private meditation. Elements are passed out by ushers. “Do this in remembrance of me” (1 Cor 11:24).
Offering—We worship God by giving Him money which He has enabled us to have. Visitors are not expected to participate. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income (1 Cor 16:1-2).
Message—We believe the Bible was written by God so we want to know what it says and how it applies to our lives. “Preach the word” (2 Tim 4:2).
Invitation—We offer non-Christians an opportunity to become a follower of Jesus by walking to the front of the auditorium while the rest of the congregation sings. Water baptism (immersion) follows. "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins” (Acts 2:38).
